How to move a Moroccan shop from a paper notebook to a digital POS
A paper notebook is familiar and flexible. Moving to a digital point-of-sale app works best when you make the change in clear steps and keep the opening figures easy to check.
1. Decide when the change starts
Choose a quiet day to begin recording new sales in one place. Tell anyone who helps at the shop which method is being used, so a sale is not recorded twice or missed.
Keep the notebook available during the transition for reference, but mark which entries have already been transferred or closed.
2. Prepare the product list
Start with the items you sell most often. Check their names, selling prices and current quantities against the shelves before relying on the digital list.
Add the remaining catalogue over time. A verified short list is more useful than a large list with uncertain prices or stock counts.
3. Handle customer credit carefully
Review each open balance with the customer and agree on the amount still owed. Use the app’s supported credit flow for new credit sales and record repayments when they happen.
Do not create a new sale to represent an old notebook balance unless the app explicitly supports opening balances. Keep a clear reference for any amount not yet entered.
4. Review and back up
At the end of the first day, compare a few digital sales and stock changes with the shop’s usual records. Fix mistakes early and make a backup if the app offers one.
DakkanPro stores shop data on the device and supports exporting a backup. Keep the exported copy somewhere you can retrieve if you change or reset the phone.
